I discovered this long forgotten 17th century Cremonese masterpiece on eBay, believe it or not.
Was it a miracle or mere coincidence? I believe on the name of the Almighty God!
Back length - 357 mm.

The George Petryn Collection at Yale College of Music.
I am the person whom later positively identified the 1672 Andrea Guarneri, for Naomi Sadler, by using old, grainy photographs in the www.cozio.com archives, for comparison purposes. This can be done, even if the original resolution photos aren't very good.

1673 Pietro Guarneri violin

There is a remarkable similarity between this violin and the one recently discovered by the author. It was once illustrated in the website about the descendants of the foreign diplomat, C. H. C. Plowden, who became well known as a connoisseur / collector of fine Italian instruments and French bows, especially those made by F. X. Tourte. The instrument was at one time purported to be the 1735 Guarneri del Gesu now owned by an American physician, which it clearly is not that particular violin.

Concerning the post immediately above:

Neither Charles Beare, nor Christopher Ruening were able to recognize these violins for what they really are!!
Peter Brompton (Brompton's Auction, London) actually came to visit me concerning this instrument, but I had to go to the hospital after having a stroke which has caused paralysis to my right hand. Now I can't even type with it. Brompton "bowed" to Beare's negative opinion of the violin, long after fact that I told him what Beare said about it!
How can these three men claim to be professionals within the violn trade, after demonstrating such ignorance?

Is it possible that, from the highest level on down, major dealers intend to prevent any instrument
not under their control from being recognized as authentic, regardless of the fact that the instrument is clearly authentic?
